Umm Ul-Khair, Mother of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq
Umm Ul-Khair (“The Mother of Goodness”) was the mother of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq. Her name was Salma, and according to some sources: “Laila” Bint Sakhar Bin ‘Amr Bin Ka’ab Bin Sa’ad Bin Taym Bin Murrah Bin Ka’ab Bin Lu’ay Bin Ghalib. Umm Ul-Khair was from the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh, and she embraced Islam at the start of the Call to Islam along with her son, Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with them both.
