Sayyida Aisha, Mother of the Believers

Sayyida Aisha, Mother of the Believers (1): Sayyida Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, was the daughter of our Honorable Master, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with her and her father. Ten years younger than her half-sister Asma’, who shared the same father, Aisha was a beloved wife to Habibullah (the Beloved of Allah) – the Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family – as well as “the Mother of the Believers,” whose innocence was revealed from above the seven heavens.

Sayyida Aisha was born in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in 613 AD, nine years before the Hijrah. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family), who never married a virgin other than Aisha, married her in Makkah when she was six years old, consummating the marriage with her in Madinah when she was nine years old, seven months after his arrival to Madinah.

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family, had a vision of Aisha in a dream, where she appeared in a silken piece of cloth – and he passed away when she was eighteen years of age while resting his head upon the upper part of her chest. Aisha was the most beloved of the Prophet’s wives as well as the most knowledgeable and eloquent speaker amongst them.

Aisha remained alive until the Caliphate of Muawiyah and died on a Monday night, on the seventeenth of Ramadan in 58 AH (678 AD) after Witr Prayer, and was buried on the same night. She had asked to be buried in Al-Baqi’ and was laid to rest by Abdullah and Urwa, two sons of Al-Zubayr, Al-Qasim and Abdullah, the sons of Muhammad Bin Abi Bakr, and Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Abi Bakr.

The executor of Sayyida Aisha’s will was Abdullah Bin Al-Zubayr Bin Al-Awam, and the Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family, had given her the kunya Umm Abdullah.

After Muhammad Bin Abi Bakr was killed and his body burned, she could never eat or look at roasted meat without crying until she died, may Allah be pleased with her.

A few pages would not be sufficient to include all aspects of the biography of Sayyida Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, but these few lines are enough to provide a small glimpse into her life, because someone like the Mother of the Believers is not an unknown entity, as she is the shining star of all women, may Allah be pleased with her and please her as well.
