Ibn Al-Imam

Ibn Al-Imam (1): Isma’il Bin Ibrahim Bin Abi Bakr Bin Ibrahim Bin Hamid of Tbilisi was from the tribe of Quraysh and a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq who was also known as Najm Al-Din Abu Al-Taher, Abu Al-Fidaa, and Ibn Al-Imam. He is believed to have been born in either 657 or 658 AH.

Ibn Al-Imam received hadiths in Cairo from Al-Mu’in Ahmed Bin Ali Bin Yusuf Al-Dimashqi, Isma’il Bin ‘Azzoun, Al-Najib Abdul-Latif Al-Harrani, Sheikh Ibn Al-Emad Al-Maqdisi, Abi Abdullah Muhammad Bin Ahmed Bin Manthur, Abi Safa Khalil Bin Abi Bakr Al-Muraghi, and Abi Hamed Muhammad Bin Ali Ibn Al-Sabouni. In Damascus, he received hadiths from Al-Muslim Bin Muhammad Bin ‘Allan, ‘Amr Bin Muhammad Bin Abi ‘Asroun, and others.

Ibn Al-Imam was known for his good looks, his impeccable morals and ethics, his great generosity, and his frequent recitation of the Qur’an. He is believed to have died in the first half of the eighth century after the Hijrah, as Taj Al-Din Al-Sabki mentioned that he narrated on the authority of the Ibn Imam described here in the year 731 AH.
