Abdullah Bin Abdul-Malik Al-Merjani

Abdullah Bin Abdul-Malik Al-Merjani (1): Abu Muhammad Abdullah Bin Abi Muhammad Abdul-Malik Bin Abi Abdullah Bin Abi Muhammad Al-Merjani of Madinah descended from the tribe of Quraysh and was a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. A historian whose ancestors can be traced to Tunisia, Al-Merjani was born in Alexandria and lived in Makkah. In Shawwal of 751 AH, he compiled a history of Madinah that he called Bahjat Al-Nufus wa Al-Asrar fi Tarikh Dar Hijrat Al-Mukhtar. He was also the author of Nuzhat Al-Muqtasit fi Awdha’ Al-Mukhammas Khali Al-Wasat and other works. He was interested in different branches of knowledge and worked in various fields. He was known as a man of faith and righteousness. He went to Northwest Africa after 760 or 770 AH, and nothing is known of him thereafter.
