Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Al-Qasim

Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Al-Qasim (1): Born in Madinah, Judge Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Al-Qasim Bin Muhammad Bin Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq was from the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh, and was a descendant of Abu Bakri Al-Siddiq. He was appointed as Chief Justice of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah by Al-Hasan Bin Zaid Bin Al-Hasan Bin Ali Bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with them) during the reign of Abi Jafar Al-Mansur of the Abbasid Dynasty, when he was less than 30 years old. He remained a judge until he died around the middle of the second century after the Hijrah. His son Muhammad narrated on his authority.

Al-Zubair Bin Bakar said: Harith Bin Muhammad Al-‘Oufi told me: When Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Al-Qasim died, his bier was taken out of Aisha’s home – and when people created an uproar over (where to bury) him in Baqi’ Al-Zubair, they headed left, wanting to take him to the burial site, whereupon Al-Hasan Bin Zaid said: “Absolutely not. Abdullah was with us in this life on the same path, and we hope that he will enter the same entrance as us tomorrow. We don’t want any tradition to be practiced at the time of death except for our tradition, so let’s proceed with him to Al-Baqi’.”

Harith Bin Muhammad Al-‘Oufi said that the people of the Bakri family proceeded to take him to Al-Baqi’ even though they were unhappy about it – and that is where his body was prayed over. When the prayer was finished, Al-Hasan Bin Zaid stood at the edge of his grave – and without him realizing what had happened, he found that his nephew (Ibn Abi Ajwa Al-Uthmani) had laid down his thobe and descended into his grave. When he did this, Al-Hasan Bin Zaid said: “Take his hand, and get him out. There is someone here more deserving than you. Go down, Zaid, and Ali, and Abdullah, and ‘such-and-such person,’ and ‘such-and-such person,’” until five of his children and grandchildren had descended into the grave. When the body of the deceased was no longer visible, he threw dirt onto the grave with his hands and remained standing there until he was totally buried and then left. It was reported that he was offered condolences for the death of Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Al-Qasim like a man who is offered condolences for the death of his closest relative.
