Ni’matullah Al-Jarhi

Ni’matullah Al-Jarhi (1): Ni’matullah Bin ‘Afif Al-Din Muhammad Bin Abdel-Rahim, the grandson of “Abi Al-Makarim” Karim Al-Din Abdul-Karim Bin Kamal Al-Din Abi Abdullah Nasrallah Bin Sa’d Al-Din “Sa’dallah” Bin Jamaluddin Al-Khatib Abi Hamed Bin Abi Al-Taher Bin Umar Bin Khalifah Bin Sheikh Wali Abi Muhammad Abdullah Bin Ahmed Bin Ali, was a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq whose ancestry could be traced back to the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh. Also known as Al-Shihab Abu Al-Khair Al-Jarhi Al-Shirazi, Ni’matullah was born in Shiraz in Safar of 815 AH and followed the Shafi’i school of thought. He received numerous hadiths from his father and people in Makkah.

Ni’matullah had a great love of learning and traveled from Makkah to Cairo in search of hadiths. He received many hadiths there and visited numerous sheikhs in order to learn. He worked in many branches of knowledge and developed a high level of proficiency and skill within a short period. He compiled knowledge and wrote excellent commentaries. He then headed back to his homeland in Shawwal of 839 AH and died shortly thereafter on 4 Rajab 840 AH.
