Abdel-Rahim Al-Jarhi
Abdel-Rahim Al-Jarhi (1): Abdel-Rahim, the grandson of “Abi Al-Makarim” Karim Al-Din Abdul-Karim Bin Kamal Al-Din Abi Abdullah Nasrallah Bin Sa’d Al-Din “Sa’dallah” Bin Jamaluddin Al-Khatib Abi Hamed Bin Abi Al-Taher Bin Umar Bin Khalifah Bin Sheikh Wali Abi Muhammad Abdullah Bin Ahmed Bin Ali, was a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq whose lineage could be traced to the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh. He was also known as Al-Sharaf Abu Al-Sa’adat and Abu Al-Fadha’il Al-Jaiani Al-Jarhi. Regarding the latter name, some sources list it as “Al-Jawhari” or “Al-Jarharini,” but “Al-Jarhi” is more accurate.
A scholar who followed the Shafi’i school of thought, Abdel-Rahim Al-Jarhi was born in Shiraz in 744 AH. He memorized the Qur’an at the age of six and received knowledge of the Noble Hadith and narrations from his father. He received hadiths in Shiraz as well as in Jerusalem and Damascus. He went to Baghdad and lived in the Levant. He also went to Cairo and visited the two sanctuaries of Makkah and Madinah numerous times, transmitting hadiths in both cities, as well as in Persia. He was married and performed the Hajj pilgrimage more than thirty times. His son, Afif Al-Din, was born in Makkah. Abdel-Rahim died in Lar in Safar of 828 AH.
