Ezz Al-Din Abdul-Qahir Al-Suhrawardi

Ezz Al-Din Abdul-Qahir Al-Suhrawardi (1): Ezz Al-Din Abu Muhammad Abdul-Qahir Bin Uthman Bin Abi Al-Najib Al-Suhrawardi the Sufi was a respected Sufi figure. He emigrated and traveled to Iraq, the Levant, Egypt, the Hejaz, and Yemen. He may have lived during the eighth century after the Hijrah.

One of his poems says:

“We are just like birds in a cage –

He who leaves amongst us flies away with his news.

Whenever one of us is let out –

The other applauds for him and dances.”
