Adhud Al-Din Al-Iji
Adhud Al-Din Al-Iji (1): Judge Adhud Al-Din Abdel-Rahman Bin Ahmed Bin Abdul-Ghaffar was from the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh, and a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. He was born in Ij, near Shiraz, after the year 700 AH. He received knowledge from the sheikhs of his generation and was close to Sheikh Zain Al-Din, a student of Al-Baydawi. Adhud Al-Din was a scholar of logic and a master of usul (the fundamentals of religion), semantics, discourse, and Arabic who also made contributions to other fields of knowledge. He authored Sharh Mukhtasar Al-Muntaha, which people benefitted from long after he was gone. He traveled to different regions and was considered trustworthy by the major scholars. He also authored Al-Mawaqif fi Al-Kalam wa Muqadamatuh, a book so amazing that it defies all description. He was appointed to the Maliki judiciary but had a fallout with the leader of Kerman, who imprisoned him in a fortress. He died while imprisoned in 756 AH.
