Abu Al-Aalia Muammar Bin Sulaiman

Abu Al-Aalia Muammar Bin Sulaiman (1): Abu Al-Aalia Muammar Bin Sulaiman Bin Sa’eed Bin ‘Aqil Bin Hafith Bin ‘Askar Bin Zaid Bin Esa Bin Hamian Bin ‘Uqba Bin Al-Thadi Bin Shibl Bin Hasan Bin Zaid Bin Yazid Bin Al-Tufail Al-Zaghawi Bin Sufwan Bin Muhammad Bin Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, was the forefather of the Bakri family in central Northwest Africa (specifically Algeria) and the first of his people to go there from Tunisia.

On the journey there, he was accompanied by a large number of Bedouins. He was the grand patriarch of the Hilaliya tribes that went to central Northwest Africa and settled there, near Tlemcen, and later traveled towards Raba, in the territory of Bani ‘Aamir in El Bayadh Province in present-day Algeria, where they again settled. It’s estimated that this emigration took place around the seventh century after the Hijrah.

Sayyid Muammar Bin Sulaiman’s immediate descendants were Muhammad, Esa, Ahmed, and Ghaithir.

Sayyid Muhammad Bin Muammar returned with his children to work in Tunisia. Sayyid Ahmed Bin Muammar’s descendants are known as Al-Karafita, while Sayyid Ghaithir Bin Muammar’s descendants are known as Al-Ghaiathira. As for Sayyid Esa Bin Muammar, he was committed to his father’s path and followed in his footsteps, taking over his position after his death.
