Muhammad Bin Fahkr Al-Din Al-Farisi

Muhammad Bin Fahkr Al-Din Al-Farisi (1): Badr Al-Din Muhammad Abu Abdullah Bin Abi Bakr Bin Muhammad Bin Hasan Bin Ali Al-Farisi was a Yemeni astronomer, musician, and author from the tribe of Taym whose ancestors were from Persia. His father lived in Aden, Yemen, and Muhammad was born there in 682 AH. His lineage was connected to that of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him.

Muhammad Bin Fahkr was educated under the tutelage of various people in Aden, including Ibn Al-Harazi, Ibn Al-Adib, and others. He learned about astronomy and other fields of knowledge from his father. It would be very rare for a person of high prestige to go to Aden and not be contacted by him so that he could learn from him—and he would do everything possible to honor such people.

Al-Jundi referred to him as a man of prominence in Aden, describing him as warm, congenial, and always ready to serve the needs of a friend. During the last days of his term in Aden, Ibn Al-Adib appointed him as a deputy to serve in the judiciary of Aden.

Muhammad Bin Fahkr died in Aden in 677 AH (1278 AD). Among his authored works are: Darat Al-Tarab (about music), Al-Tabsira (about veterinary sciences), Ayat Al-Afaq fi Khawas Al-Awfaq, Nihayat Al-Idrak fi Asrar ‘Ulum Al-Aflak, Maaraj Al-Fikr Al-Wahij fi Hal Mushkilat Al-Zij, Madat Al-Hayat wa Hifth Al-Nafs min Al-Aafat, Al-Durra Al-Muntakhaba fi Al-Adwiya Al-Mujaraba, and a book on composing musical tunes.
