Umar Bin A’azz Al-Suhrawardi
Umar Bin A’azz Al-Suhrawardi (1): Abu Hafs Umar Bin Abi Al-Harith A’azz Bin Umar Bin Muhammad Bin Amuwiah was from the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh, and a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. His ancestry can be traced to Sohrevard. He was born and raised in Baghdad and was a Sufi. He grew up in a righteous household in which knowledge of the hadith and Tasawwuf were given great importance.
Born in Rajab of 542 AH, Umar Bin A’azz Al-Suhrawardi was one of the Sufi Sheikhs of Ribat Al-Sa’ada. He received hadiths from Aba Al-Waqt Abdul-Awwal Bin Esa Bin Shu’aib Al-Sajzi. He died on the night of either the 3rd or 13th of Rabi’ Al-Awwal in 624 AH and was buried in Al-Sahliya, near Jami’ Al-Sultan Mosque in Baghdad.
