Muhammad Efendi Al-Bakri Al-Saghir (Sheikh of Sijjada Bakria)

Muhammad Efendi Al-Bakri Al-Saghir (1): The renowned teacher and influential prince, Muhammad Efendi Al-Saghir Bin Muhammad Efendi Al-Kabir Bin Ali Bin Ahmed Bin Abdul-Munim, was from the tribe of Quraysh and a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. He was also the Grand Sheikh and Naqib Al-Ashraf in Egypt.

A document written in 1207 AH (1793 AD) indicates that Al-Sayyid Muhammad Efendi Al-Bakri had, by that year, already assumed leadership over both the El-Ashraf Syndicate and the Sheikhdom of Sijjada Bakria.

Al-Jabarti (d. 1237 AH) said: The esteemed scholar of noble descent, Al-Sayyid Muhammad Efendi Al-Bakri Al-Siddiqi, Sheikh of Sijjada Bakria and Naqib Al-Ashraf, died in 1208 AH (1793 AD), having assumed leadership over both positions after his father, inheriting from him the two dominions and leading as a king would, showering those around him with unparalleled generosity through his exemplary conduct. He died on a Thursday night, on the 18th of Rabi’ Al-Thani, and was buried with his ancestors, next to Al-Shafi’i—and when he died, his maternal cousin, Sidi Sheikh Khalil Efendi Al-Bakri, assumed leadership of the Sijjada Bakria.
