Muhammad Bakri Bin Ahmed Bin Abdul-Munim (Sheikh of Sijjada Bakria)

Muhammad Bakri Bin Ahmed Bin Abdul-Munim (1): His Eminence Sheikh As-Sayyid Muhammad Bakri Bin Ahmed Abdel-Munim Bin Muhammad Bin Abi Al-Surour Muhammad Bin Al-Qutb Abi Al-Makarim Muhammad (“the white-faced one”) of Quraysh was a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq and Sheikh of the Sijjada Bakria in Egypt.

His seal was engraved with the following words:

“Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq is my ancestor, and I am indeed the maternal descendant of the Messenger of Allah: Taha – Muhammad”

His father designated him to lead the Sijjada Bakria during his lifetime due to the great intelligence he observed in him. This was despite the existence of his brothers (Sheikh Muhammad’s uncles), who were: Abu Al-Mawahib, Abdul-Khaliq, and Muhammad Bin Abdel-Munim. The Honorable Sheikh ran the Sheikhdom in a most admirable manner and was a powerful speaker and extremely humble man whose company was sought out by ministers, senators, and princes alike. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Shabrawi used to visit him every day before sunrise and sit with him for about an hour before proceeding to Al-Azhar. Upon his death, he was succeeded by his son Sheikh Sayyid Ahmed.

Sheikh Muhammad was married to the daughter of Sheikh Al-Hanafi and had a son with her named Khalil, whom he left an orphan when he was young. He was thus raised under the guardianship of his cousin, Al-Sayyid Muhammad Efendi Ibn Ali Efendi, to whom leadership over both the Sheikhdom and the El Sadah El Ashraf Syndicate fell after the death of his cousin, Sheikh Sayyid Ahmed. As for Sheikh Muhammad Bakri Bin Ahmed, he died near the end of Safar in 1171 AH.
