Abu Ali Al-Talhi

Abu Ali Al-Talhi (1): Abu Tahir Al-Salafi (d. 576 AH) mentioned him in Mu’jam Al-Safar, saying:

I heard Abu Al-Qasim Abdel-Rahman Bin Muhammad Bin Esa Al-Sfaqsi Al-Basir Bel Thaghar saying: I heard Abu Ali Al-Talhi in Egypt saying: "The Qur’an is a like a plant that flourishes when learned, so if you never want to forget it, do not exceed more than five at once.”

This Abu Al-Qasim was a friend of Yahya Bin Abi Maloul Al-Qaisi from whom he gained knowledge. He was an intelligent and talented student. He died in Egypt. He recited many hadiths to me and used to lead the prayer in the Makini School. In Salafi’s own handwriting, he said: “This Abu Ali is not of the descendants of Talha Bin Ubaydullah; rather, he is of the descendants of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him.”

Abu Ali Al-Talhi may have lived during the sixth century after the Hijrah.
