Umar Bin Muhammad Bin Amuwiah

Umar Bin Muhammad Bin Amuwiah (1): Umar Bin Muhammad Bin Amuwiah Bin Saad Bin Al-Hasan Bin Al-Qasim Bin Alqama Bin Al-Nadhr Bin Muath Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Al-Qasim Bin Muhammad Bin Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq was from the tribe of Quraysh and a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. A Sufi who lived in Baghdad, he was known as Abu Hafs Al-Suhrawardi and was the paternal uncle of Abu Al-Najib the preacher. He was born in either 455 or 454 AH.

Abu Hafs Al-Suhrawardi was educated under the tutelage of Abu Al-Qasim Al-Dabousi and was a Sufi leader at Ribat Sa’adat Al-Khadim. He met Ibn Al-Jawzi but did not receive hadiths from him. He received hadiths from Asim Bin Al-Hasan, Rizqallah Al-Tamimi, and others, while Abu Shuja’ Umar Al-Bastami and his nephew, Abu Al-Najib Abdul-Qahir Al-Suhrawardi, received hadiths from him. He had a pleasant demeanor, and his order attracted many people. Abu Al-Najib inherited the khirqa from him. He died on a Tuesday night, on the 8th of Rabi’ Al-Awwal of 532 AH. His body was prayed over in Ribat Sa’adat Al-Khadim, located on the Tigris River. He was buried in Shunizia near the grave of Ruwaym.
