Abu Bakr Bin Ateeq (Atiq) Al-Suwayriqi
Abu Bakr Bin Ateeq (Atiq) Al-Suwayriqi (1): Abu Bakr Muhammad Bin Ateeq Bin Najm (or Bin Umar) Bin Ahmed Al-Suwayriqi Al-Bakri was an honorable jurist and poet, as well as an eloquent speaker and a man of piety from Suwayriqiyah, which is a village near Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah located between Makkah and Madinah. It is called the “village of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq” (may Allah be pleased with him), as Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq owned some property there.
The noble jurist Abu Bakr Al-Suwayriqi was a generous man known for his benevolent nature. He was also described as a good companion. He went to Khorasan and received knowledge of jurisprudence from Imam Muhammad Bin Yahya in Nishapur. He died in Tous in 538 AH. Al-Samaani (d. 562 AH) mentioned that he first met him in Maru and later saw him in Nishapur and Nawqan Tous as well. A strong friendship formed between them. They were fond of one another and spent a great deal of time together. Al-Suwayriqi was also known as a skilled poet.
Note: The man described above (Abu Bakr Al-Suwayriqi) was more than likely from the tribe of Quraysh and a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. Although the only name in his biography (in the sources we looked at) linking him to this lineage is Al-Bakri, the fact that he was from the village of Suwayriqiyah, where Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq owned property, along with the presence of this name (Al-Bakri), makes it extremely likely that he was of the progeny of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq—and Allah knows best.
