Shamia Bint Al-Bakri

Shamia Bint Al-Bakri (1): Shamia Amatul-Haq, daughter of the muhaddith (transmitter of hadith) Abu Ali Al-Hasan Bin Abi Abdullah Muhammad Bin Abi Al-Futouh Muhammad Bin Abi Sa’d Muhammad Bin Abi Saeed Muhammad Bin ‘Amrouk, who was ‘Amr Bin Abi Saeed Muhammad Bin Abdullah Bin Al-Hasan Bin Al-Qasim Bin ‘Alqama Bin Al-Nadhr Bin Muath Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Al-Qasim Bin Muhammad Bin Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq, a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq who was from the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh.

During her long life, Shamia became a scholar with her own chain of narration and was highly knowledgeable in her fields of interest and specialization. She narrated on the authority of her grandfather, her great-grandfather, Hanbal Bin Abdullah, Umar Bin Tabarzad, Abdul-Jalil Bin Manduwaih, and others, receiving her knowledge of hadith from a direct chain in which she herself qualified as a link. Al-Dumyati, Sa’d Al-Din Al-Harithi, Abu Abdullah Bin Al-Zarrad, Abu Al-Hajjaj Al-Kalbi, Abu Muhammad Al-Birzali, and many others narrated on her authority.

Shamia narrated in Damascus, Egypt, and Shaizar. She was born in Egypt in 598 AH and had ijazas from Asa’d Bin Rawh and ‘Afifa Al-Farqania. She died in Shaizar near the end of Ramadan surrounded by relatives in 685 AH.
